IT Operations Manager
Hybrid Munich, Germany - 2 days per week in office
Competitive Salary with Pension Scheme & Private Healthcare
Are you the kind of IT Operations Manager who enjoys owning the full “office IT experience” — from networks and endpoints to identity, automation, and vendors — and making it all feel seamless?
Want a role where you can drive structure and scale across a multi-site environment, while still staying close to the tech and having real influence on how things are done?
About the role
This is a hands-on IT Operations Manager position with real ownership: you’ll run and improve core IT operations for a distributed office footprint, while leading a small team (one IT employee and one intern) and managing key vendors and budgets. The environment is highly operational but with plenty of space to standardise, automate, and raise the bar on reliability and user experience.
Key focus areas include:
- Owning IT infrastructure and day-to-day operations for the Munich office (including Ubiquiti networks)
- Endpoint provisioning and lifecycle management across macOS and Windows
- User/account administration across Google Workspace and Microsoft 365
- Supporting meeting rooms and office setups (docking stations, HDMI, peripherals, connectivity)
- Maintaining and improving automation workflows (Python scripting and n8n) for system sync and operational efficiency
- Partnering with office stakeholders across locations and supporting office improvements via occasional European travel (4–6 trips per year)
- Leading IT setup for new office openings planned for 2026
- Managing vendor relationships, contracts, and an annual hardware budget of ~€600,000
- Coaching and coordinating a small team of 2, setting priorities, and keeping execution moving
Tech stack / tools
- Ubiquiti (network)
- macOS + Windows endpoints
- Google Workspace, Microsoft 365
- Automation: Python, n8n (plus Bash/PowerShell considered)
- Apple MDM experience
- Identity/SSO familiarity (SAML, OAuth) is a plus
About you
They’re looking for someone who can combine structure, ownership, and calm execution with a genuine hands-on mindset.
What they’ll value:
- Completed apprenticeship as Fachinformatiker für Systemintegration (or equivalent)
- 3+ years of practical experience in a similar IT operations environment
- Strong networking fundamentals (LAN/WLAN, VPN, firewall basics, troubleshooting)
- Scripting/automation skills (ideally Python; Bash/PowerShell also relevant)
- Solid macOS administration experience (MDM, user management, troubleshooting) and confidence with Windows
- Admin experience with Google Workspace and Microsoft 365
- German at B2 level (minimum) and English at C1 level (written and spoken)
- Munich-based or willing to relocate, plus a valid driver’s license for office visits
- Organised, proactive, and comfortable working independently across multiple stakeholders and locations
For you
- A visible, high-impact role supporting 500+ employees across multiple offices, with Munich as a major hub
- A rare mix of strategic improvement work and practical delivery — you’ll shape standards, not just follow them
- Meaningful ownership of vendor management and a sizeable hardware budget (~€600k annually)
- A modern environment with a high degree of automation (Python + n8n) and scope to push that further
- Leadership experience with direct reports, plus the chance to build repeatable processes for a growing organisation
