Role Overview
The
Ward Nurse plays a vital role in coordinating and managing the
complete discharge process - from the point of
provisional discharge until the patient physically exits the hospital. This role requires a
smart, proactive professional with strong communication skills, clinical awareness, and the ability to manage multiple stakeholders efficiently to ensure a smooth and timely discharge experience for every patient.
Key Responsibilities
- Discharge Process Coordination:
- Take ownership once the discharge is marked as provisional
- Liaise with treating consultants and residents for timely preparation of discharge summaries
- Review and validate all discharge documentation for accuracy and completeness
- Patient & Family Education:
- Clearly explain all post-discharge instructions including:
- Medications
- Dietary guidance
- Activity restrictions and wound care
- Follow-up appointments and red flags
- Use clinical awareness to answer patient/family queries and escalate where deeper medical input is required
- Interdepartmental & Stakeholder Communication:
- Collaborate with:
- Billing & Finance for final bill settlement
- TPA/Insurance Desk for documentation, approvals, or delays
- Pharmacy, Dietary, Transport, Housekeeping, etc. to ensure discharge readiness
- Ensure all non-clinical patient concerns (laundry, food, personal items, room queries) are resolved before exit
- Discharge Experience Oversight:
- Be the single point of contact for patients and families during discharge
- Identify and address bottlenecks to ensure smooth discharge experience
- Maintain real-time escalation logs and process feedback
Candidate Requirements
- B.Sc. Nursing with valid nursing council registration
- Minimum 3 years of clinical or hospital operations experience
- Strong verbal and written communication skills in English, Hindi, and preferably Gujarati and Marathi
- Confident, smart, and proactive in stakeholder management (Doctors, Billing, TPA, Admin, etc.)
- Good understanding of basic clinical practices to assist with patient education and discharge clarity
- Compassionate and professional attitude in patient-facing situations
Language Requirement
- We are looking to hire a minimum of 6 nurses who are fluent in Gujarati, in order to support and communicate effectively with our large Gujarati-speaking patient population.
